Introducing: The Real Life Club!

Since returning from my adventures in Asia earlier this year, I realised that my original plan for Soulful Sisterhood, wasn't completely aligned with my mission as a Life Coach - to help anyone and everyone who feels stuck, a bit lost or numb, or people who are navigating life changes, challenges or transitions that aren't particularly comfortable.
I spent a lot of time thinking about this Soulful Sisterhood and what was missing or what could change to make it more aligned with my mission. Then I suddenly thought, All of my mission statement is general REAL LIFE things that people (not just women) can struggle with. This was the moment 'The Real Life Club' was born.
Why 'The Real Life Club' Exists...
For the longest time, I knew I was missing a community in my life. I have a wonderful family and incredibly lovely friends, but I didn't have a community of people I could see every week, check in, catch up and feel seen, heard and like I can be my full authentic silly self, without fear of judgement, but also I wanted it to feel like I was sitting in my Nan's living room having a nice cuppa tea, you know that warm feeling? Yeah, that's the feeling I wanted to emulate some how.
You see, in my childhood, I was part of Biggleswade Amateur Theatrical Society (BATS), yes I was in a number of Panto's growing up, in fact these are some of my fondest memories. I was also part of Brownies & Guides and when I left all 3 of these, I started studying Performing Arts at North Hertfordshire College, and for 3 years I still had a community of likeminded people and we went through the highs and lows every production goes through, but we did it together, which only solidified our bond with every show we did. When I left college, I was part of the gigging scene, I was in a couple of bands briefly and I would go to tonnes of gigs with all the same usual people, another community of likeminded crazy souls.
My life changed due to a confidence hit and I stopped performing. Sadly because I was in my early 20's my friends from college had gone on to other opportunities and adventures and I seemed to dissolve into mundane office work and lost my community, and sparkle.
Since then, I have been slowly dipping my toe into other communities. I've tried networking events, online self-development communities, Psychic Circles, Women's circles, Drum circles, and many other types of circles & communities. And while all of these things are wonderful and I enjoy all of them, I wanted to build a community where outsiders feel incredibly welcome. You can show up in your PJ's and no one will care, you can just be you and enjoy the process, whatever the process is. I actually had a wave of this feeling when I attended the Moggerhanger Drum Circle, and I wanted to emulate that feeling within The Real Life Club, but instead of banging drums for an hour and journeying to see our ancestors, we are exploring you and your self-development as well as connecting with people in this realm, who also have no fucking clue what the heck is going on with their lives.
What is 'The Real Life Club'?
The Real Life Club is what it says on the tin. It's a club for REAL LIFE shit, hosted by me, a Level 5 Qualified Life Coach.
It's a safe, judgement free, confidential and welcoming space to be yourself, and come together with other humans that are doing what we're all doing... figuring out this wonderfully weird thing we call life. Each week has a different self-development topic such as Boundaries, Personal Values, Confidence etc. and I create and share a coaching exercise or tool with you, as well as a Weekly Quest to help you use what you learn in Real Life, outside of the club.
Whatever stage of life you're in, whatever you might be going through, there is a seat waiting for you. There's no reason to have your life all figured out and organised perfectly (I certainly don't). You don't have to feel a certain way, look a certain way or act a certain way, you are perfectly enough as you are. At the club there is ZERO expectations of how your life should look or that the battles you're facing have to be the worlds worst things, absolutely not! You can simply come because you want to get out the house and do something different. And there is certainly no expectations that you turn up every week. If the wind takes you, we will be there.
What Actually Happens At 'The Real Life Club'?
At the club, we always start with a gentle settle in - Get signed in at the Welcome Table, make yourself a nice cuppa tea or coffee, grab ya'self a biscuit or 3 (no one is judging remember), and find a seat.
We start the session with a 'One-Word Check-In' - where you have an opportunity to share a word that describes how you're feeling, or if there is anything specific that you're figuratively bringing with you to the session. Good, bad, ugly, or insightful... anything is welcome.
After this we do a gentle grounding meditation - this helps us arrive and settle into the session. Letting anything go that happened before the session and anything that's happening after the session, so you can be fully present and take full advantage of your time at the club. If meditation isn't your thing, that's perfectly OK, nothing is compulsory at The Real Life Club you can pass at any time.
Next we have our Wins, Wobbles & Ways Forward segment - Here is some time to share anything you have succeeded at during the week, any little moments of positivity you've noticed that's helped you through your week, any wobbles or difficult moments you've had and maybe what your way forward was to help you overcome that wobble. And remember there is no pressure to share anything, if you want to pass... there's no judgements, you can always pass.
After we have all had a good chat and settled in, we will begin the Exercise for the session - Each week I share an attendance poll in The Real Life Club's WhatsApp Group, where I also share the topic for the upcoming session. The exercise will always relate to the topic of the session. and we will have space and time to discuss the topic and what we have discovered after we finish the exercise.
We always end the exercise with a Weekly Quest (it's not called homework for a reason, it's not compulsory and you can decide it's not for you, that's OK) - It's a simple task that can be carried out in Real Life outside of the club that relates to the session topic. They're practical things, and help you to make small changes in your every day life that can help you become more self aware, more in tune with yourself and hopefully leave you feeling a little lighter.
And finally we finish where we began but instead of check-in we have a 'one-word check-out'. This could be a revelation you have had during the session, a feeling that's changed since you arrived at the start, or even something you're taking away from the session.
After we have finished you're welcome to hang around and have a chat, have another cuppa, or have a nosey at our Resources Table and our Kindness Table, before you leave.
It's OUR Community!
The Real Life Club, isn't just MY community, it's OUR community, so I am always open to feedback, recommendations and topics you're specifically interested in knowing more about. I love being creative with the exercises and so, any exercise I share are adaptations and my own interpretations of exercises I use or have used in the past, but I also like making my own exercises from scratch, so even if it's not a topic I have in my arsenal, I can create something that will suit.
